Hallstatt Austria Postcard
Hallstatt is a village on the western shore of Lake Hallstatt in Austria's mountainous Salzkammergut region. Its 16th-century Alpine houses and alleyways are home to cafes and shops, and in autumn, the steep mountainsides behind the village turn into a mosaic of gold and amber.
The reflection of the village and the autumn colours in the dark, still water of the lake creates a stunning mirror effect. As the sun sets behind the peaks, the village lights begin to twinkle, adding a warm glow to the cool mountain atmosphere.
