Hugs. Always so nice to give hugs and receive hugs. Couples in love give hugs every day. Happy and friendly individuals also hug all the time. Hugs are not just for Valentine’s Day. They should be given every day. Hugs are something you can never get enough of. There are those with T-shirt saying free hugs and at the end of a long hard day it is frequently heard “I need a hug”. Red hearts and pink hearts are very popular symbols for Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day wishes given through Valentines in the formal flowers and gifts and as Valentines day cards. Without a doubt red is the predominant Valentine colour. Red roses and red hearts abound on Valentines day. It is the holiday for lovers. A day set aside to recognise love and romance in our lives. Has the red heart is the most popular symbol for Valentines and Valentines day, the kiss is also popular. But if it were tallied, more Valentines day hugs will be given then Valentines day kisses. Friends you meet on Valentine’s Day all certainly would not mind a hug, but the Valentine kiss is reserved for those very special, usually only those you love. While red hearts and roses and Valentines with romantic messages abound on February 14, hugs abound every day of the year. Hugs are just not for Valentines. This dreamland dot painting was inspired by the style developed by Australia’s aborigines. It is painted entirely with dots. The design is bold and forthright. The shades of red and pink’s a bit more subtle and sophisticated than the aborigine palette as they were limited using pigments available in the Australian outback. You might enjoy finding the letters h U G incorporated into the design. While many will consider this an image for Valentines day it is certainly appropriate for use all year round. You will find it appropriate on cards other than for Valentine’s Day, but on gifts of all kinds for those you love. The life of a Valentine is brief but the warmth of hugs linger on and on. This cute and unusual hug image is one of a new series of images inspired by the style of the Australian aborigine dreamland dot paintings which they saw and studied while travelling together in Australia in the summer of 2013. For 50 years Richard’s art has been continually evolving. During most of his early Americana work he used pens, brushes and watercolors. Today he creates his images digitally.
