Jack Russell Terrier

The Jack Russell Terrier is known as a fox hunter. He is related to the Parson Russell Terrier and the Russell Terrier. A Jack Russell Terrier is energetic, lively, and clever - usually quite independant as well. The Fox Terrier and Jack Russell Terrier type dogs of today are likely to be descendents of dogs from the period during which Reverend Jack Russell began breeding terriers to produce a breed with stamina for the hunt as well as the courage and physical capabilities to chase foxes once they were found. Jack Russells are working dogs and must be properly stimulated and exercised.
