Vincent van Gogh (March 30, 1853 - July 29, 1890) is a Dutch post-impressionist (late-Impressionist) painter. Many of his major works were produced during his stay in France after 1886. He is a representative painter of the post-impressionist group and is also regarded as a pioneer of expressionism. His works were known for their candid expression of emotions and bold use of color, and had a great impact on the art of the 20th century.
