千字文 (Senjimon / せんじもん / The Thousand Character Classic) was used in ancient China as a textbook for Chinese characters and a model for calligraphy. That was conveyed to Japan.

This typeface is called "皇朝古印体 (imperial old seal style)” and is used for seals.
