Kintsugi - mended identity T-Shirt

Kintsugi (or kintsukuroi) is an ancient tradition in Japanese art, that mends faults or cracks in pottery with precious metals, mostly gold or some mixture of gold and other metals, such as brass. This doesn´t hide mistakes, as would be done in the West, but goes into the opposite direction of highlighting imperfections. This tradition is deeply rooted in the hard to grasp notion of wabi sabi. An approach to echo Nature instead of perfecting it. Something very Asian and – sometimes – opposed to Western ideas. As such, it can also teach us about accepting personal imperfections, those of others and, even harder, our own. It´s about tranquillity and peace, reconciliation. Forgiveness. It is about sheer beauty and understanding.
