La Clownesse (Clown) Cha-U-Kao by Toulouse Lautrec Coaster

La Clownesse (The Clown) Cha-U-Kao at the "Night Club" (1895) by Toulouse Lautrec is a vintage post impressionism art nouveau fine art portrait painting featuring "the clown" at the famous "nightclub." She was a dancer and clown at the Nouveau Cirque and Cha-U-Kao owes her Japanese sounding name to the phonetic transcription of the French words "chahut" (the cancan) and "chaos" referring to the uproar that occurred when she came on stage. About the artist: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) was a French post impressionism painter and was known as one of the greatest painters of the Post Impressionist period.

I was very surprised by the quality of these coasters they are beautifully crafted, and the sunflower watercolour image is so sharp it really pops out at you, I really love these and will order some more as a gift. The colours are so vibrant and the glossy tops make the image really stand out, they are stunning, a lovely way to brighten up dark wood or any surface. 6 coasters is also the perfect amount.
