Lady Drinking Tea with Cat tile. Oil on canvas from 1918. One of the great commercial and art nouveau painters working in Russia, Boris Kustodiev employed a style that emphasised bright colours, sharp figures and striking landscapes. This is one of his most charming paintings which features a merchant’s wife drinking tea before a rich table set with watermelon, fruit, bread and beautiful pewter ware. A happy cat rubs up against her shoulder. The woman wears a pretty blue bonnet and the summer in Moscow is warm with a bright sky. A great gift for fans of Boris Kustodiev, Russian Art, cat paintings, and art nouveau.

Really nice image fixed to the tiles in my shower as a background to a soap dish. This was to hide the marks left by a broken soap dish. Just used tile adhesive and white grout. I think it looks good, almost like the drips are falling from the soap dish. No probs. Nice image.
