Looking out ... card

I overexposed and underexposed this shot. Still, I love the picture. It seems wonderfully atmospheric. To me, it symbolises our human condition, standing in present, looking into the future, rooted in the past, and not really able to see any of these very clearly. The romantic and tragic story of Boldt Castle makes it more poignant. George Boldt left it unfinished when his wife Louise died in January, 1904, before he could present it to her on Valentine's Day as a monument of his love. After being abandoned for nearly three-quarters of a century, it is now being lovingly restored by the Thousand Island Bridge Authority.
