Machhapuchhare Mountain, also known as Fishtail Mountain, is a stunning and iconic peak located in the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas in Nepal. Its unique and distinctive shape, resembling a fishtail, gives it its name "Machhapuchhare," which translates to "Fishtail" in Nepali.
At an elevation of 6,993 meters (22,943 feet), Machhapuchhare is considered one of the most beautiful and sacred mountains in Nepal. Despite being one of the highest peaks in the region, it is notable for never having been summited, as the Nepalese government has declared it a sacred mountain, with mountaineering prohibited.
The mountain is surrounded by lush forests, pristine lakes, and serene landscapes. Its dramatic appearance is often captured in photographs, especially from the nearby Pokhara valley, where it reflects in the calm waters of Phewa Lake.
