Marcus Aurelius Engraved Bust Look Within
The bearded bust of the philosopher-emperor, engraved in 1640 by Reinier van Persijn for the Galleria Giustiniana in Rome, above his line from the Meditations, from the Rijksmuseum's open collection (RP-P-OB-60.231, public domain), cropped and toned to ink on warm ivory and set in an engraved-style frame with diamond corners and a Marcus Aurelius name plate. Under the picture, one line: "Look within; within is the fountain of all good." (Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, VII, trans. Meric Casaubon, 1634), set word for word from the public-domain translation. Made for an office, a study or a reader of the Meditations. Designed by Painted Stoa: the museum engraving was cropped, cleaned, toned to ink on warm ivory and set in a frame and name plate drawn in code with AI tools under my direction; no stock images. The words are public domain and were checked against the published text.

Looked great and was perfect for my Nana's 99th it arrived super quick so much quicker than sending the original from the other side of the world! My Nan loved my artwork too and the picture of us inside helped her remember who I was as she has Alzheimer's. Crisp and clear. Bright and colorful true to the original artwork I created. The photo we placed inside also looked great and clear.

This was used as a Mother's Day card and my mother absolutely loved it! The artwork and attention to detail is stunning. It's as if the hare could jump right out of the card at any moment. The print quality and colours are of a very high standard and show the beautiful hare in commendable detail.
