Micrographia T-Shirt

When Robert Hooke wasn't nerding up the Latin (Ut tensio sic vis!) or duking it out with Newton, he was blazing trails in physics and biology, his accomplishments in the latter including a pioneering survey of microorganisms (or minute bodies as they were called back in the day) using the then recently-invented microscope (see: Leeuwenhoek). Hooke chronicled his findings in the magnificent Micrographia, a sort of wee Wild Kingdom detailing the various and sundry flora and fauna that live in, on, under, and amongst us, as revealed by Hooke's keen eye, nimble fingers, and brisk libretto. Providing glimpses of the never-before-seen micro world, not to mention its novelty oversized pull-out engravings, the Micrographia was hailed as a triumph upon its publication in 1665. No wonder Newton burned Hooke's portrait when he became chair of the Royal Society (Isaac could be such a grimalkin).
