Mountain Village - Ink Tile
Mountain Village - Ink is a traditional Chinese "shan shui" brush painting with ink on rice paper.
Chinese landscape painting, in general, is the famous paintings art that take landscapes as themes, treats the natural mountains and rivers as major description objects.
Chinese mountain and water painting (in Chinese called shan shui, shan = mountain, shui=water) forms its own artistic tradition and system. Through mountain and water paintings, people can taste both artistic conception and the artistic style of Chinese paintings well. For Chinese landscape painting it is unable to do without "water". "Water" is the soul of Chinese paintings. The lifelike depiction of various forms of water grace the whole painting when you appreciate one Chinas mountain and water painting.
According to Fengshui build your house in an area, where the mountain is behind your home and the water in front of it. Famous example is the "Forbidden City" in Peking. The emperors created an artificial hill behind the city to follow this rule.
Chinese brush mountains paintings are not simply depict natural views, but reveal the pursuit of spirit and the philosophy of life of painters. It also reflects the inner consciousness for self-cultivation of Chinese which called "Mountain is the model of virtue and water is the good example of character".
The Yellow Mountains, also called Huangshan is one of the most famous and beautiful mountainous areas in China. It was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its spectacular natural scenery includes oddly-shaped pines and rocks and mystical seas of cloud.
I have visited the Yellow Mountain and was depely impressed by the beauty of the scenery and its wonderful historic villages.
In China the calligraphy always belongs to the painting. It’s like the signature from the artist. The bigger characters are always the title of the painting. The smaller calligraphy shows the name of the artist and sometimes where and when the painting was created.
On the picture is written „shan shui - bai jie hua yu shang hai” what means “Landscape - painted by Bai Jie in Shanghai”
Bai Jie is my Chinese name.
You can also buy it without the calligraphy! Check out my gallery.

Really nice image fixed to the tiles in my shower as a background to a soap dish. This was to hide the marks left by a broken soap dish. Just used tile adhesive and white grout. I think it looks good, almost like the drips are falling from the soap dish. No probs. Nice image.
