NEO Surveyor Asteroid Hunter Key Ring
NASA’s NEO Surveyor is a next generation spacecraft specifically designed to search for asteroids that might be a threat to planet Earth. NEO stands for Near Earth Object. NEO Surveyor will hunt for objects more than 140 metres (460 feet) wide that come close enough our orbit, within 30 million miles. It will do this using a 20 inch aluminium mirror and infrared sensors, since most of these asteroids don’t reflect much visible light. NEO Surveyor is scheduled to launch in 2028 and become an important tool in our planetary defence during its 12 year mission.
