This night butterfly or moth is called Lyssa macleayi lives in New Guinea forest. Sometimes it is distracted by lights in the houses of peole who live near the forest. This moth is large with a wing span of around 13 centimetres. The tropical rainforest of New Guinea is the natural habitat of some species of birdwing butterflies. They are facing extinction because of rapid deforestation.
