Norse Mythology Freyja's Realm Folkvangr Postcard
Fólkvangr, meaning "Field of the Host" or "Field of the People" in Old Norse, is the divine meadow ruled by the goddess Freyja. In Norse mythology, it is one of the afterlife realms where half of those who die in battle are said to reside, with the other half going to Odin's Valhalla. Fólkvangr is home to Freyja's hall, Sessrúmnir, a grand and welcoming abode for her chosen warriors. Beyond its role as an afterlife destination, Fólkvangr embodies Freyja's association with love, fertility, and the honour of the battlefield. Original art by artist Tamra Howell.
