Northern Cardinal Sampling Some Fruit Apron
The Northern Cardinal was introduced to Hawaii in 1929 when a caged bird got out on the island of O'ahu. You can now see this beautiful bird in gardens and forest across the main islands. This one was enjoying the Strawberry Guava fruit from the tree in my yard on the Big Island of Hawaii. They love to wait until the fruit is ripe and starts to split then they enjoy the sweetness inside. This Northern Cardinal is a frequent visitor to my yard.
