Oliver history includes that of the South Bend Iron Works, maker of the Oliver Chilled Plough and Hart-Parr who is credited as the founder of the tractor industry. The model 770 offered ten percent more power than the model 77 that it replaced. Along with the 660 and 880 it was introduced two years prior to the company being purchased by White Motor Corporation of Cleveland, Ohio.
