Oni, Mediaeval Bestiary Art Notebook

Oni, Mediaeval Bestiary Art Notebook Before a red pagoda, a horned oni stands guard with a heavy club, his red face fierce and his eyes blazing. The tiers of the pagoda rise behind him, temple steps lead upward, and storm clouds gather overhead. Japanese folklore describes the oni as a mighty horned ogre, and the beat of temple drums is said to rouse it. That power of a temple guardian ready to strike shapes the whole design. A large gold drop cap opens the word ONI, with a red subtitle naming its home set beneath it over a small black ornament. A short scholar's entry in old style lettering fills the left column, and a framed window on the right shows the red horned oni gripping a club before a tiered pagoda. A slim glowing gold rune marks the lower left corner. Oni red, pagoda crimson, and storm grey glow on a parchment tone page darkened at the edges, wrapped in curling blue and red acanthus vines, red and gold flowers, four little songbirds, and thin gold rails. • Red horned oni holding a club before a pagoda • Gold drop cap O, red subtitle, and a short scholar's lore entry • Oni red, crimson, and storm grey on a parchment tone page with a blue and red floral border • Part of the Mediaeval Bestiary Notebook Collection from Myth And Monsters
