Palazzo Vecchio Magnet
Palazzo Vecchio, Florence, Italy The commune and people of Florence decided to build a new "city hall" in 1299. The tower of the Romanesque fortress-palace has a 92 metre high tower which was named after the architect, Arnolfo di Cambio. He was also the architect of the Duomo and the Santa Croce. Cosimo de Medici and Girolamo Savonarola were both imprisoned in the tower.
