About This Design

Phova - Phosphorus Trading Card

Phova - Phosphorus Trading Card

The wizard, Phova represents Phosphorus in the Magical Elements of the Periodic Table. Phova can control light and make things look different. She can change the colour and brightness of light and even make things appear in a different way to people. She can create really bright light shows or make things look different with illusions. In 1669, Hennig Brandt discovered phosphorus in Hamburg by boiling down urine and heating the leftover material until it glowed red hot. He captured the phosphorus gas by cooling it in water. Brandt thought he had found the legendary Philosopher’s Stone that could turn ordinary metals into gold and kept his discovery a secret for a long time. White phosphorus is a dangerous, waxy substance that can seriously burn your skin. It glows in the dark and catches fire when it touches air. On the other hand, red phosphorus is safe and looks different. You can find it on matchboxes! Phosphorus is super important for all living things because it’s a key part of DNA and RNA. It’s found in our bones and teeth mainly as calcium phosphate. Plus, it helps our cells and tissues, filters waste in our kidneys, and is vital for how our bodies store and use energy.
