In the dark of night on Aug 20, 2025, FDOT desecrated the Pulse nightclub memorial honouring the 49 people who died and 53 others wounded, mostly LGBTQ+, in the June 12, 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting. Local brave community members immediately replaced the rainbow colours with chalk. The Florida Department of Transportation has ordered the removal of all rainbow crosswalks across Florida and other red states are sure to follow. We will not be erased. We will keep fighting. We will resist. We will win. Chalk up.
