This design features a painting by Rosa Bonheur (1822–1899), who was a French artist best known as a painter of animals. It shows a proud ram standing in a green field. A ram is a male sheep, and it has curved horns at the top of its head. Rams are covered in thick wool, and it grazes on vegetation. In the wild, rams form herds for protection. Because rams often live in the mountains, the animals are seen as symbols of strength and endurance. Here the ram is seen alone on a traditional French farm.
