Robert Bruce Horsfall Birds Collage Tapestry

This natural history bird collage features 60 bird illustrations and paintings by Robert Bruce Horsfall (1869-1948). Horsfall, an American wildlife illustrator and painter, produced avian and mammal artworks for numerous animal and ornithology books. He was internationally known for his wildlife paintings and also provided work for several museums including the American Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian Institute. The individual bird blocks could also be cutout and used in various sewing projects including quilting. The birds represented in this collage, which would delight bird watchers everywhere, are --TOP ROW (Lft to Rt): Baltimore Oriole, Barn Swallow, Bluebird, Blue Jay, Bobolink, Bob White or Quail, Brown Creeper, Brown Thrasher, Cardinal, Red Shouldered Hawk. ROW TWO: Catbird, Cedar Waxwing, Chickadee or Black-Capped Titmouse, Chimney Swift, Chipping Sparrow, Cowbird, Crossbill, Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, Field Sparrow, Snowy Egret. ROW THREE: Flicker or Golden-Winged Woodpecker, Goldfinch, Purple Grackle, House Wren, Indigo Bird or Indigo Bunting, Junco or Slate-Coloured Snowbird, Kingbird, Kingfisher, Maryland Yellow Throat, Green Heron.
