Sator Rotas Square Card

The Sator Rotas square contains a palindrome using the Latin words SATOR AREPO TENET OPERA ROTAS written in a square so that they may be read top-to-bottom, bottom-to-top, left-to-right, and right-to-left. This mysterious square has so much history! A four-times palindrome, some people have attributed magical properties to it, considering it one of the broadest magical formulas. Palindromes were viewed as being immune to tampering by evil spirits, who would become confused by the repetition of the letters, and hence their popularity in protective magical use. An ancient charm of great power and mystery, its secret meaning is still not agreed upon, and although it was most certainly used by very early Christians, it is also believed to have been used by followers of the earlier religion of Mithras.
