Screw Pine Closeup Tapestry

The tropical plant in the original photograph by ZoeSPEAK on this Wall Tapestry is called a screw pine. It is not a pine tree. It is a distant relative of palm trees, called "screw pine" because of the spiralling way it grows, and the way the fruits look like pineapples or pine cones as they turn a reddish colour. The long, tapered green leaves have a reddish edge that is spiked like a saw blade.
