This is a really cool clock. The material is a thick (about a 1/4 inch) acrylic material with the print adhered to the back. You're looking through the acrylic to see the picture and it gives it a neat transparent property. It's a very durable material as I've dropped it and nothing happened, not even a chip. Great top notch print quality. The colors are bright and saturated. The graphics are crisp and clear.
