Shiny Tuba Slanted Perspective Brass Band Coaster

A shiny brass tuba, the largest and deepest pitched of the wind instruments. Tuba also belongs to the category of brass instruments and aerophones. In Latin, "tuba" just means trumpet. The bass tuba was patented in 1835 in Prussia (northern part of what is now Germany). The tenor tuba followed three years later. This photo was taken on a nice summer day, as a Portuguese marching band from Montreal, Canada came trooping down the road. They were part of a procession bearing a statue of the Virgin Mary. There is a large Portuguese population her in Hull, Quebec and the majority are Catholic. There's a Portuguese community church nearby and I love to listen to the bells! The flared open part of this instrument is also called a bell, and it has some reflections, somewhat distorted, of the church, greenery, buildings and people. Get this theme for tuba players and other musicians, music lovers, anyone into marching bands, brass bands or the big band sound - and of course Oktoberfest would not be same without some rousing oompah tuba music!
