Snake's eye notebook

The name [Janome] 'Snake's Eye' is derived from a pattern resembling a snake's eye, but its original form is a 'Tsurumaki' (string roll) used to wrap spare strings for bows during battles. After donning armor, it is attached to the left waist, hung from the waist strap of the 'Ebira' (quiver). (According to 'The Family Crest Encyclopedia' by Takasawa, etc.) / Tsurumaki is a bow accessory made of leather or wicker used to wrap bowstrings. It is worn at the waist by samurai in armor and appears to resemble a snake's eye. Later, due to its shape being similar to a snake's eye, it was referred to as the 'Snake's Eye' crest.
