A mounted canvas print from an original acrylic painting showing the lighthouse between Dartmouth and Salcombe on the South Devon Coast.
Start Point overlooks Torcross Beach where preparations were made for the Normandy Landings and a notorious incident that led to the sinking of American war ships resulting in the loss of many lives, the bodies of the marines were secretly buried in surrounding fields in an attempt to preserve secrecy. This rocky headland would have also witnessed the arrival of the Spanish Armada prior to it's demise at the hands of Sir Francis Drake and his Plymouth Fleet.
