This design features the state flag of Nebraska, which is a state that lies both in the Great Plains and in the Midwestern United States. Nebraska is bordered by South Dakota to the north, Iowa to the east and Missouri to the southeast (both across the Missouri River), Kansas to the south, Colorado to the southwest and Wyoming to the west. It is the only triply landlocked U.S. state. It is sometimes known as the "Cornhusker State". The flag of the state of Nebraska contains the Nebraskan state seal on a national blue background. The current design was commissioned in 1925. The capital city of Nebraska is Lincoln, while the state's largest city is Omaha.
