Art As Social Inquiry

In 2008 I started a social art project called, Art As Social Inquiry. I wondered what would happen if we, as a society, looked at people living the social issues we all have so many opinions about -- issues like access to healthcare, violence, and more. Would our opinions change if we connected the issues to the lives of real people? And if our opinions changed, would our actions change as well? In the subsequent years since I started ASI, I have learned the true meaning of compassion, understanding and feeling the impact of issues through the eyes and hearts of those deeply affected. I have given talks at conferences, classrooms, and churches about the project, and what I have discovered about people and their struggles.
