Please join us in supporting the recovery of Ryan Sanders Ryan was born on June 9, 1978 in Rochester, Minnesota. Ryan grew up in Reno, Nevada with his parents and his younger brother and sister. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2000. In 2006 he earned his juris doctorate at Golden Gate University of Law. During law school, he met his lovely girlfriend Andreea. They live together here in San Francisco. Ryan loves being active as he once completed a bicycle trip from San Francisco to Canada...although he hitchhiked part of the way. He loves playing basketball and soccer, surfing, road biking, hiking, reading, music, playing video games, and skin diving. On April 6, 2009, Ryan was diagnosed with a stage three Anaplastic Astrocytoma (malignant brain tumor) at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota -- which was actually a few buildings from where he was born. Ryan underwent brain surgery four days later, the surgeons performed a subtotal mass reduction of the brain tumor, but were unable to remove all of the tumor. Ryan is currently undergoing radiation therapy and chemotherapy at UCSF. Thankfully, UCSF has one of the finest neurology departments in the nation. His regeneration process will be lengthy and expensive. We were awed and inspired by Ryan’s little sister, Kendra – who is participating in her first triatholon in Colorado in support of Ryan. So a group of us decided we wanted to help, and RALLY FOR RYAN!!! Through this 5K walk/run and other events, we are hoping to help raise money to help Ryan with his medical expenses. We hope you will join us to support Ryan on his road to recovery, one step at a time.
