About This Design
The Conch Republic Flag Magnet
Celebrate the lifestyle and independence of the Florida Keys with the Conch Republic Flag. In 1982 Key West declared its independence as the Conch Republic from the United States in protest to the U.S. Border Patrol setting up a blockade on U.S. 1 searching for illegal immigrants. This crippled the tourist industry in the Keys. Every year Key West celebrates its “Independence Day” on April 23, a very popular festival and tourism booster.
