The Sacrifice of Iphigenia (Le sacrifice d'Iphigénie) c1680 by French Painter Charles de La Fosse (1636 - 1716); known for his many decorations of public buildings throughout Europe. This is another version of The Sacrifice of Iphigenia, a Greek Mythological story in which Agamemnon on his way to the Trojan War, offends the Goddess Artemis; who in retaliation for his offence prevents the Greek troops from reaching Troy.
