Okay, they both spend a great deal of time distributing goods. Santa, like a North Pole-based Big Brother watching with dreadful omniscience over little boys and girls, rewarding the obedient and kind. Marx, on the other hand, distributing the spoils of revolution usurped from "Capitalist Pigs" and "exploiters" to, well, I guess socialist pigs and political exploiters. But the point is, they both look a lot alike.
