About This Design

Vincent van Gogh - The Red Vineyard Short Table Runner

The Red Vineyard, painted in 1888 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Arles. Van Gogh painted the vineyard in early November, shortly after Paul Gauguin arrived in Arles. Autumn vines blaze in reds, golds and greens as workers move through the harvest beneath a low sun, turning an ordinary agricultural scene into an intense field of complementary colour. The painting was exhibited in 1890 and purchased that year by the Belgian painter and collector Anna Boch, giving it a noteable place in Van Gogh's lifetime exhibition history.
