Webb's First Deep Field View Galaxies in Universe Bath Mat

Vast and deep, this image captures a tiny slice of the early universe, teeming with thousands of galaxies in various shapes and sizes. The galaxies’ faint colours hint at their immense distance, with some dating back 13.8 billion years. Spiral galaxies, like our own Milky Way, hug majestic swirling arms. Elliptical galaxies appear smooth and blob-like. Peculiar galaxies defy easy classification, and irregular galaxies have chaotic shapes. These galaxies are all embedded in a dark canvas, a reminder of the vast emptiness that separates them. This image is a testament to the power of the James Webb Space Telescope, peercing through time and revealing the universe’s grand history. - This file is in the public domain in the United States because it was solely created by NASA.
