Every year, as Autumn advances across Canada and the United States of America, they depart from their homelands. The destinations vary, and the seasonal locations cover hundreds of thousands of square kilometres or miles. Along the far Northeast Atlantic Ocean coastlines and adjacent interiors, their annual arrival is expected in the Canadian Provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. From Newfoundland's Burin Peninsula, across Fortune Bay, an archipelago of 8 islands are officially recognised as the French Republic Overseas Collectivity of St. Pierre and Miquelon. Regarding their most Northeast seasonal locations In the United States of America, these aquatic birds are found in the State of Maine, the State of New Hampshire, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Rhode Island. Swimming or resting on the water surface, North American White-winged Scoters (Melanitta deglandi deglandi) see the colours of sunset mirrored on the slight ripples.
