Jacob’s Ladder depicts the dream of the biblical patriarch Jacob in which he perceived a ladder of angels climbing towards heaven. Blake illustrates the scene with a spiral staircase rising from the head of Jacob, passed the star filled night sky, towards the brightly illumined sun of heaven. Blakes angels carry pitchers, bowls, scrolls and even small children. A beautiful gift for fans of William Blake, Bible illustrations, and English art.
