Image of Zao Chun Chinese kitchen god bordered by tiled images of ginger. A gold orb at either side contains the name of the kitchen god in Chinese. The orbs also mark the 3 and 9 positions on the clock. Zao Jun, also known as the Kitchen God or the Lord of the Hearth is a very popular deity in Chinese folk religion. He is the protector of the family and an image or picture of him is fixed above the hearth (kitchen) and from this position he notes everything that happens in the house. The kitchen god is used as a protective, strong feng shui energy in the kitchen.
