"Jitterbug" Stone Coaster

Very popular in the 1940's the jitterbug dance is attributed to Cab Calloway and his song “Call the Jitter Bug” produced in 1934, and the film “Jitterbug Party”, both of which were responsible for popularising the word. However, the word was coined by Harry Alexander White. The name “jitterbug” comes from a slang term for alcoholics who suffered from the “jitters” and the name became associated with swing dancers who danced “out of control” with all of their jumping, spinning and cutting loose.
