About

Here I am, the last of our kind. I'm a 3rd generation Indo, and we're reaching the start of the end of our generation. The 1st generation was born and lived pre-WWIi. The 2nd lived during WWII. The 3rd was born post WWII to the 2nd generation. My parents were concentration camp survivors, and I was finding little of our original unique heritage out there, so I decided to create my own, focusing on the good rather than the bad, like the Poppers (whispered in fear by the 2nd generation), Bersiap, diaspora, contactpension...we went through a lot. But there's Rijsttafel, the hilarious bottle, shadow puppet stories told in Dutch, families put together with war orphans an love, cutting food away from you generously instead of towards you miserly. We have memorials in Indonesia, there was a special stamp issued in the Netherlands, and Holland America Cruise Lines spoils us rotten. Because they have senior people just like us. Take it or leave it, Mata Hari was Dutch Indonesian. Hey, Eddie Van Halen is 3rd gen!
