Al Chaney’s background includes more that 30 years of combined experience in start-up operations in chip manufacturing, computer manufacturing, computer depot repair, purchasing electronics, electronics maintenance, solid waste as well as teaching computer classes, and classes in computer refurbishing. He is an author and publisher. His first book, Computer Recycling for Education, is the definitive work on that subject, and is available at Barnes & Noble. His second book, Electronics Waste Management is scheduled for publication in 2004. His problem solving and consultation skills are excellent. He has completed specialized training in ISO 9000 lead auditing, A+ Certification, Intensive Grant Writing, statistical process control and management at Hewlett-Packard. The State of California has benefited from a computer-refurbishing program he introduced in The California Department of Corrections. CDC's program has became a national model. To date, it has saved California taxpayers more that $33 million dollars cost avoidance on the purchase of computers in schools. Al Chaney received an accolade from former Corrections Director James Gomez, for being the originator of that program. It was addressed to Gayle Wilson, former California first lady. He was a project manager and adjunct professor for three years in electronics technology. In addition to his work experience at Hewlett-Packard, he has also worked for Fairchild Semiconductor and GTE Sylvania. Al Chaney serves as secretary for the nonprofit organization, Computers For Classrooms. Al Chaney is the owner and founder of Computer Recycling For Education and his biography is listed in the 2003 edition of Who's Who in America. Al Chaney has been interviewed on radio and television on the subject of computer recycling. Al Chaney has also written an article in a major trade publication on computer collection events. Al has an MBA degree in Management and an Associate degree in Electronics.
