About
There’s always more to the story than meets the eye. We have to listen to each other if we want society to function. While the social justice left emphasizes hearing the perspectives of marginalized people, it actively attempts to silence marginalized ideas. I’m not talking about the other “n” word, the four letter word: I’m talking about skeptical feminists, heterodox LGBT activists, anti-idpol socialists, the disenfranchised white working class... We can’t only listen to people with the “right” opinions. Puritanical moralizing effectively neutralizes progressive causes. If you don’t want Trump to win in 2020, then it’s time to listen to your “opponents”: they are your fellow countrymen. This might be news for some progressives, but conservatives are human, too. And they aren’t evil, or even brainwashed: to them, their point of view is completely logical. The religious right has less sway than it did a decade or two ago: we’re now dealing with normal, working people who keep our country running. They see Trump as a catalyst for change. Voting for him is a cry for help, and we have to listen. We might be surprised by how similar our goals are. It’s the 21st century: this is the future we’ve been waiting for. It’s time to put aside the political polarization of the last century, and the binary approach to economic systems.
