Not Sister Carrie

The name of my store, Not Sister Carrie, is loosely inspired by the book, "Not Sidney Poitier" by Percival Everett. "Not Sidney" was the name of the main character of that book and the fellow, though not related to the acclaimed actor, bore a strong resemblance to him. The title character contends with identity issues throughout the book. My real name IS Carrie and while I have been closely connected to the Catholic Church both professionally and personally I am not a woman religious, aka a "Sister." However I have been - and continue to be - called "Sister Carrie" by some people who know of these connections. My church connections, including becoming a lay associate of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in October 2017, have inspired my inner artist and I opened this store as a place where I can share and post images that stir my soul and creativity as I continue on my life journey.
