About

Spokane Civic Theatre, founded in 1947, is an award-winning nonprofit community theatre and a cultural beacon in the Inland Northwest. Each year, Civic presents 15 - 20 plays, musicals and other live events in addition to innumerable performing arts classes, predominantly for the youth of the community. Civic initially operated out of a number of historical downtown Spokane venues, including the Orpheum Theatre and Post Theater, until its facility in downtown Spokane’s North Bank area, Designed by Moritz Kundig, opened in 1967. Civic’s space includes the Firth J Chew Studio Theatre (96-seat flexible black box) and the Margot and Robert Ogden Main Stage (334-seat auditorium). To date, Civic has mounted more than 800 productions; has represented the Lilac City at local, national and international festivals and has fostered throngs of artists, entertainment professionals and educators.
