About

I have been very fortunate to be able to paint from the very early age, in fact, as long as I can remember myself, because both my parents were artists as well as the majority of my aunts and uncles, cousins, their friends and colleagues. I graduated from Stroganov Art University in Moscow in 1997 and have been painting professionally ever since. I am working in the realistic style, I highly value traditional painting skills and constantly try to improve my techniques. I draw my inspiration from the great artists of the past and particularly from the Art Nouveau period such as Manet, Degas, Cezanne, Whistler, Sargent. Also, being Russian, I was brought up to admire the finest examples of Russian realistic and impressionistic art such as works by Repin, Serov, Korovin, Shishkin. I try to exhibit regularly, mainly locally in Richmond-upon-Thames. We have a most beautiful section of the river Thames here looping around several times and creating many exciting views all along. Colourful boats, many bridges, several magnificent parks - Richmond is a dream place for an artist. I love painting reflections, that's why water is often present in my landscapes and a lot of my still life is on the glass surfaces. My other passion is painting cats - you can find some examples in the Portrait room. These creatures are so incredibly graceful in any position they chose to take. They simply demand to be painted - and I humbly obey :-) I often paint cats on commission and also run the online cat art club called Cat Art Garden where I try to promote the artistic activities amongst the cat fans.
