World Environment Day (WED) is an international day of environmental awareness and action that happens on 5th June each year. Started in 1974 by the United Nations, WED is hosted in a different country each year, with events focusing on a central theme. WED is an important example of how people should care for the environment, raising awareness of the increasing levels of pollution, human overpopulation and climate change. The design shows a view of the world centred over South America with clean energy sources of windmills and solar panels with some plants, flowers, clouds and the sun.
